What we know

A refuge in 1865-68 (1950 DAR marker). On Sept. 21, 1868 raiders came to Mr. McShane's house, where 'several women' were alone, and took a picketed horse after Mrs. McShane told them to; the same party burned Walker's house at the head of Monument Creek (Rocky Mountain News, Sept. 22, 1868).
