What we know

David McShane's 1865 homestead, 'three miles east of Palmer Lake' (PLHS), where he built the stone round house (the fort) of 1868 nearby; a log bunkhouse on the ranch was photographed in 1976 ('at the north end of Monument near Highway 105'). McShane died May 17, 1907.
