What we know

D&RG station; 'Borst … farming and stock; population 50' in the News's 1874 list; 'the first station on the Rio Grande south of Monument' (McFarling). Named for W. W. Borst, the D&RG's superintendent. Not Southwater: the News's 1872 guide to the line lists Borstville 'a few miles' below Henry's and Southwater separately at the sixtieth milepost, though Place Names of Colorado gives 'Borsts' as Southwater's other name.

Where it was

Center of Sec. 26, T11S R67W, from Place Names of Colorado ('On D&RGW'), via the BLM PLSS survey grid; good to about half a mile.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
