What we know

Samuel C. Stout came in 1869 as tie inspector at Gomer's Mill and managed Palmer's Pinery for forty years. A small school stood on the ranch, and part of it went to the Air Force Academy (von Ahlefeldt pp. 31, 91, 100). The Leavenworth and Pike's Peak Express road of 1859 crossed the Divide near the same intersection (p. 18).

Where it was

'Located at the present intersection of State Highway 83 and Northgate Road' (von Ahlefeldt p. 31). The 1979 Northgate Road is taken to be today's Old North Gate Road, whose junction with Highway 83 in OpenStreetMap is used; North Gate Boulevard meets Highway 83 half a mile south. One source; good to about half a mile.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
