What we know

Named for Charles E. Kuhn, who took up a ranch in 1874 (obituary, 1909); 'On East Bijou Creek' (Crofutt 1881); in 1885 Kuhn and partners had 5,000 acres under fence and controlled 50,000 of public land. The X K ranch went to the Bijou Ranch Co. in 1900, and its 35,000 deeded acres to a Kansas City syndicate in 1906 for farms; steam plows by 1909. PO 1879-1920, mail to Simla.
