What we know

The camp of the 1830s trader Jimmy (Daugherty or Hays) in a sheltered valley with running water; the Jimmy Camp Trail is named for it. Marcy came up the trail in 1858 and the Green Russell party passed the same year (von Ahlefeldt p. 19; Scott, I-930 report).

Where it was

'Jimmy Camp spring', the end of Scott's Jimmy Camp Trail on his 1975 Pueblo sheet (USGS I-930, S-0105), read from the reprojected sheet; good to a few hundred feet. The 1976 county survey photographed 'Jimmy Camp Spring … 12 miles East of Colorado Springs and just south of Highway 24' (PPLD record, S-0101).

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
