Columbine School

Also: District 26 Joint

SchoolsHistoric or vanishedDouglas County

What we know

One-teacher school of a joint Douglas-El Paso district; when it burned it was not rebuilt and pupils went to Larkspur (Larkspur Historical Society binder 5 p. 11). The 'Baptist Assembly' there is probably today's Ponderosa Retreat and Conference Center at 15235 Furrow Road, a Colorado Baptist camp established in 1960 (CCCA listing), not the Black Forest Baptist Assembly off Baptist Road.

Where it was

'Southeast of Greenland, on the County Line Road … in the vicinity of the Baptist Assembly, near the present Furrow Road' (Larkspur Historical Society binder 5 p. 11); placed where Furrow Road meets County Line Road in OpenStreetMap. Good to about half a mile.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
