## Where it was

NE1/4 NE1/4 of Sec. 8, T9S R68W, labeled 'Town of Dakan' on the Larkspur society's 2011 map of the area (Perry Park binder LHS_9 p. 45). Center of that quarter-quarter; good to about a quarter mile. Wikipedia's point (39.238, -105.066) is four miles southwest, beside Dakan Mountain, and is not used. The Dakan family's cash-entry patents lie next door: George W. Dakan's NE1/4 NE1/4 and Frank Dakan's parcels in Sec. 9, T9S R68W (BLM records printed in Larkspur Historical Society binder 9 pp. 48-50); Allen and Elizabeth Dakan homesteaded at Perry Park in 1870 (1913 obituary, p. 48). In November 1896 'Allan Dakan, whose ranch adjoins the scene of the strike,' arranged to plat twenty acres (Castle Rock Journal, Nov. 13, 1896); Mrs. W. A. Dakan filed the plat, 180 lots, in January 1897 (CRJ, Jan. 29, 1897).

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
